London 2012 mascots

Loving the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic mascots, Wenlock and Mandeville. How fresh and dynamic, they seem to have a Chinese influence.

Van Doesburg & the International Avant-Garde

This exhibition currently on at the Tate, shows select works by painters such as Theo van Doesburg. The works reflects the movement and the magazine De Stijl (The Style) which was practiced in 1917 and led to a revolution in European art.

Room 5 had me all excited and inspired with typography so revolutionary that it still stands the test of time.

Elephant Parade

I spotted trunky on South Bank this weekend, he's one of 257 elephants dotted around London to raise awareness and money for the endangered Asian elephant. The conservation project by www.elephantfamily.org is London’s biggest art event on record. Each elephant is decorated by a celebrity or Artist and they are up for auction on the 18th June, so if you find one that fits in with your decor you can bid for it online.

Everyone young and old seemed delighted with there presence, here's hoping the interest shapes a new generation of conservationists.

Voting for knit-wits

The Bazaar Velvet Rug shop in Parsons Green had my attention this month with it's Pop Art Political leader rugs. The topical display certainly shows off their skills and apparently they have had a number of inquiries from people interested in buying them after the election. £900 a rug if anyone is interested!
